This double session offers insights into two current developments shaping project management in China: the application of artificial intelligence in engineering consultancy and the strategic management of complex urban renewal projects. Both topics highlight practical methods, proven tools and large-scale transformation in one of the world’s most dynamic project environments.
First part
Chinese Practical Scenarios, Methods and Tools of AI Empowering Engineering Consultancy
Cui Liming presents how AI is being applied in Chinese engineering consultancy with a focus on full-cycle data integration, human-machine collaboration and intelligent toolchains. This approach provides a reusable digital transformation model for the global project community. Participants will gain insight into effective implementation strategies, avoid common mistakes and strengthen their ability to build intelligent project management systems.
Second part
Project Management of urban Renewal in China
Wang Aili presents key concepts for managing urban renewal projects across their full lifecycle. Her approach includes holistic planning, clear goal setting, operational thinking, outcome-oriented progress and practical risk control. She draws from her experience with complex urban projects such as old community upgrades, heritage district renovations and infrastructure renewal.
Cui Liming is a senior expert in digital engineering consultancy and a practitioner in AI-supported project management. With deep experience in data-based engineering solutions, Cui shares how new technologies are changing consultancy practice in China and beyond.
Wang Aili is Chairperson of Hebei Yongcheng Project Management Co. Ltd. She is a senior engineer and holds national certifications as cost engineer, supervision engineer and consulting engineer. She serves as Vice Chair of the National Urbanization Development Alliance and is an expert with the Hebei Province Full Process Engineering Consulting Committee. With over 20 years of experience she teaches at several universities and leads one of China’s top consulting firms, ranked 22nd nationally in 2024.
